Sunday – May 21st – Revelation 3:8     ------

3:8) I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE LONGER YOU DWELL ON YOUR MISFORTUNES, THE GREATER IS THEIR POWER TO HARM YOU.*

Good Sunday to you! What a joy it is to be able to celebrate the Lord’s Day today. And what a great inspirational thought for us to consider for today. The context of this inspirational thought is drawn from the Old Testament story of Job. While we will probably not ever come close to the sufferings Job experienced, the wisdom in this thought for today reminds us that we do better in life when we fix our eyes upon Jesus. David in the 23rd Psalms writes about his need for the Lord to carry him through the valley of the shadow of his most pressing troubles. God is always just a whisper away and is always waiting for us to call upon His name. What are you facing today that God has the power to free you from unnecessarily dwelling on this problem?

In our pick verse today, Jesus reminds the believers in Philadelphia that He knows first-hand their good works, both collectively and individually. Jesus who holds the key to Heaven has opened the door for these faithful people to enter into His kingdom. Jesus recognizes them as mature and growing Christians. Jesus approved of their works of service, acknowledged their spiritual strength, honored their faithful obedience, and supported their heartfelt witness. The church in Philadelphia was the only one that received no criticism from Jesus in their letter. While they were not perfect, their intentional faithfulness brought them high praise for Jesus.

Blessings
