Sunday – July 30th – Revelation 8:13     -----

8:13) And I looked, and I heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!"

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
REPENTANCE MAY BE OLD-FASHIONED, BUT AS LONG AS THERE IS SIN, IT WILL NEVER BE OUTDATED.*

What a glorious Sunday God has prepared for us to enjoy and worship Him. Our inspirational thought for today is a perfect way for us to approach worshipping God today. With all the modernization that is part of the church today we should never leave the practice of repentance behind us. As the inspirational thought states, sin is still an active part of our lives, and the devil still makes temptation a high priority on his list of spiritual warfare weapons. When sin is present the only way to remove it is by repentance. God does the heavy lifting on our behalf, but we must first ask and then trust.

In our pick verse today, we read a one verse interlude in the sounding of the seven trumpets of the seventh seal. John views a strong, powerful angel flying throughout the land warning of the terrors yet to come. While the first four trumpet judgements were horrible, the angel is saying that the worst is yet to come. There is one “woe” proclaimed by the angel for each remaining trumpet blast from Heaven. This “woe” is not intended to be an announcement of judgment but instead portrays the miserable conditions of those who have rejected the Gospel. John also uses three “woes” in chapter 18 to refer to the various plagues and disaster of the final judgement. Each step of this final process contains the opportunity for those who remain on earth to repent of their sin and turn to Jesus. Maybe a little more old-fashioned repentance today would save others from this experience in the future.
