Saturday – August 12th – Revelation 9:16 -----
9:16) Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE RECOGNITION OF SIN IS THE BEGINNING OF SALVATION; PUTTING SIN TO DEATH IS THE LIFE OF SANCTIFICATION.*
Hello To Saturday and hello to the weekend. Tomorrow is the fifth week of our Fresh Start series and also our mortgage pay-off campaign. The sermon series focuses on stories of how God can take ordinary people and through the power of the Holy Spirit (and a willing person) help them do extraordinary things for the Kingdom of Heaven. This week we will be looking at the story of Peter and John who are brought before the ruling council of Jewish leaders. They are being chastised for continuing to speak about Jesus to the people in Jerusalem. When all is said and done, they are beaten and told to nevermore speak about Jesus. Thankfully they refused to listen to human authority and instead listened to God’s authority. We have the gospel today because God used ordinary people to do extraordinary things. What might God have in mind for you?
In our pick verse today, John’s vision of things to come expands from the release of the four demonic angels to now include a huge, numbered army of assistants. This vast army has been given authority to kill one-third of the remaining human population. This verse, in other translations, gives the number of invading soldiers as “twice ten thousand times ten thousand”, which is a staggering two hundred million demonic warriors. John makes a point of stating that he “heard” this figure. Rather than giving a preachers count, or some number estimated by him, John relays on what he was told about the size of the army from a trusted source in the throne room of Heaven. We can be assured that this number of warriors is meant to be taken literally.
Blessings
