Sunday – September 3rd – Revelation 11:5 -----
11:5) And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
BY CHASTENING, THE LORD SEPARATES THE SIN HE HATES FROM THE SINNER HE LOVES.*
Happy Sunday to you! Our inspirational thought for today is a perfect fit for a day of worshipping God. One of the lesser known, rarely spoke about, and seldom practiced aspects of personal worship is the confession of our sin and a subsequent reconnecting with God. I looked up the word chastening and it is defined in biblical language as “to correct by punishment or suffering”. Maybe that is why actively seeking chastening is not high on many people’s list of things to do when coming to worship. Yes, we are sinners, and God is in the business of redeeming and reclaiming sinners. Instead of only attending worship to enjoy the performances of the musicians, singers, and preacher, we need to personally allow God into our lives to do a little shaking up of our comfortableness. Divine punishment can lead to an awakened heart and a closer walk with God.
In our pick verse today, John continues to record what has been told him about the two witnesses sent to earth. As noted yesterday, the witnesses are in fact the church that exists during the end-times. These end-time prophets will be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and the fully authority of God to preach the Gospel. The fire from their mouths symbolizes the coming judgement of God for those who fail to respond and accept Jesus. Not only do they carry God’s word, but they are also protected from harm within God’s timing of these events. Those who outright reject these truth-filled witnesses will discover that a dramatic death and eternal separation from God is their final destiny.
Blessings
