Sunday – September 10th – Revelation 11:13-14     ------
11:13) In the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven.
14) The second woe is past. Behold, the third woe is coming quickly.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:

Happy Sunday to you! Our inspirational thought for today is tailor made for a day we traditionally set aside to worship God. In an old hymn we are encouraged to count our blessings and name them one by one. However, the reality is that each of our blessing is a gift from a loving and generous God given to us when we deserve nothing. Some folks may say that we own lots of stuff, and the bank may require us to make payments on some of the bigger stuff, but the reality is that we truly possess nothing in this life. Nothing transfers with us to our eternal abode. The only thing that we carry to Heaven, or to hell for that matter, is the status of our relationship with Jesus. While you are worshiping today, make sure that you are one of Jesus’ prized possessions.

In our pick verses today, John’s vision transitions back to the woes being leveled against the remaining inhabitants of the earth. These two verses describe what could be likened to a wave beginning to form out in the ocean and as it moves towards shore builds into a destructive and powerful surge. The time left for the world is but brief. Neither the powerful witness nor the tragic death of the prophets had been persuasive enough to change hearts and minds, but their resurrection and ascent finally convinced the world that the God of Heaven was the true God. Don’t read to much into verse thirteen, even though the world gave glory to God, it does not mean that they were converted. These people were terrified and at best were making a head-based acknowledgement, not a heart centered confession of faith.
