11:19) Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.

In our pick verse today, John concludes the eleventh chapter of his revelation vision. With as much time that John’s vision focuses on the throne room of Heaven, this is the first time he sees the sacred Ark of the Covenant. The Ark was the Old Testament symbol of God’s presence among His people. Since Christ has come, the veil of separation has been removed and access to God is available to all believers. After Jesus’ final return we will experience God’s presence in a new and even more direct way of relationship. It is interesting to note that when John recorded this vision it is believed that the Ark had disappeared, and its location remains unknown. Biblical historians believe that the Ark disappeared when the Babylonians destroyed the temple in 597 D.C. Additional, the last Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD, some twenty years before John’s vision occurred.
