Friday – September 15th – Revelation 12:1 -----
1) Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WE LOSE THE PEACE OF YEARS WHEN WE HUNT AFTER THE RAPTURE OF MOMENTS.*
Happy Friday to you! Today marks the midpoint in the month of September, as well as leaving us less than a week to the official first day of fall. As I reflect on the first eight and a half months of 2023, I realize time has certainly flown by like the blinking of an eye. I am also amazed at the number of things we have accomplished here at SunRise since the beginning of the year. Ministry programs added and flourishing, mission outings from under the shadow of the steeple to the backwoods of eastern Kentucky, volunteerism at all-time high, and a very successful pay-off-the-mortgage campaign (as of today we are less than $8,000 from our goal). With still three plus months to finish out this year, I am sure God has great plans for us to continue to find ways to grow in our personal faith journey as we work together to populate the Kingdom of Heaven.
In our pick verse today, we open chapter twelve of the book of Revelation. John’s vision now expands to take in an amazing panoramic drama unfolding across the expanse of the sky. This verse focuses its attention on the appearance of a glorious woman who is clothed with the sun. Biblical scholars point out that she is a symbolic person of imagery and splendor, instead of an actual historic person as some religions suggest. She represents an eternal existence that spans the history of the universe. Her visible presence as seen in the sky during the daylight confirms her figurative nature, since stars cannot be seen when the sun is out. This starry-sky woman will become one of the main characters throughout this chapter.
Blessings
