Welcome to Friday! If you like to mark your calendars ahead – just so you don’t overbook, then I am excited to share with you that our quarterly “What’s Up SunRise” meeting is scheduled for Sunday October 15th. The SunRise Leadership Team (SALT) will host a short meeting following each of the morning services. The 8am folks will convene in room 215 (choir room) while the 9:45am will stay gathered in the worship space. The conversations will be around the Fresh Start campaign and those folks who will be transitioning onto the leadership team in January 2040.
In our pick verse today, John observes the human reaction to the false teachings and heretical actions of the Antichrist. Oh, how easily persuaded we humans can be. The tactics of the devil are to deceive us into choosing to believe the lies of the Antichrist and then to turn it into worship. The things of the devil are so subtlety just off the truth, that a person can be easily fooled into believing it as truth. The devil knows that anything that appears to be the polar opposite of God’s truth is quickly exposed as false, but the slightest off truth can pass without detection. God’s word reminds us that even the smallest of a mistruth is still unacceptable to Him. The more time we spend learning God’s way, God’s will, God’s word, and God’s when - the less appealing the devil’s offerings will be to us.
