Sunday – October 29th – Revelation 14:13 -----
14:13) Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Write: 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.' " "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them."
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WE MUST GIVE NOT ONLY WHAT WE HAVE; WE MUST ALSO GIVE WHAT WE ARE.*
Happy Sunday to you! Hope it is not too late when you read this – always best to read the blog first thing in the morning – because today at SunRise we will be serving fresh doughnuts from the Bridge Bread Ministry. Yes, my friends, before and after both services there will be doughnuts to go with your coffee in the McClure lobby. Bridge Bread is one of our favorite ministries to support in the St. Louis area. This ministry is an intentional training lab for folks to learn an employable trade that can help them move from homelessness to housing security. Come and enjoy and learn about ways you can support the Bridge Bread ministry.
In our pick verse today, John now receives new instructions concerning the recording of this heavenly vision. Previously, the most recent reference to John’s writing activity had been in Revelation 10:4, where he is instructed not to write down the message spoken by the voice with the Thunders. In today’s verse he is instructed to write what is now spoken. Today’s angelic blessing is extended to the "dead who die in the Lord from now on”, that is from John’s time until the final consummation of this divine drama. Unless the end of the world happens before you die, then this message will someday be for you as a believer in Christ. In contrast to the eternal damnation of unbelievers who will never rest for a moment from their torment, believers in Jesus will peacefully rest from their labor. This verse closes with a reference that our deeds will follow us, meaning that at our judgement God in Heaven will fully acknowledge the evidence that we were true followers of Jesus. The irrefutable evidence in our favor is based on our patience, endurance, and keeping the faithfulness of Jesus in our lives.
Blessings
