Welcome To Thursday! Last minute reminder about Serve Saturday coming in a few days. Options are still available for most of the projects both at SunRise and out in the community. What a great way to help make a difference in someone’s life and help them discover the joy of knowing Jesus. When we serve, we represent the entire Kingdom of Heaven - from God the creator of all that exists to the most recent resident through the pearly gates. Our volunteering is a way to give our thanks for the great gift of salvation we have received from God. One project that still needs some volunteers is the outdoor landscaping project for the Pre-school playground. Check out the sign-up page on the SunRise website or app under the “events” tab.
In our pick verse today, John’s vision adds another angel coming as part of Jesus’ judgment team. The next few verses are noted as being the most gruesome of all the scenes in this divine end of the world drama. The “curtain call” will soon follow concluding the great spectacle that began in chapter 12. Like the previous scene, it begins in heaven and ends on earth. The symbolic action of this scene will be the grape harvest which occurred in September and October. By contrast the grain harvest (verses 14-15) was concluded by mid-June. Thus, the judgement scene of these next few verses is distinctly later in God’s divine timeline. The angel in today’s verse is assigned as the bearing of the harvest sickle.
