Tuesday – November 21st – Revelation 16:7
16:7) And I heard another from the altar saying, "Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments."
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
EVERY DAY YOU ARE HELD FAST BY THE INFALLIBLE LOVE OF GOD THROUGH CHRIST.*
Happy Tuesday to you! Our inspirational thought for today speaks to the heart of this Thanksgiving week. When life seems challenging, out of control, stressful, and/or beyond difficult, it is a great reminder that as followers of Jesus we are held tightly in and through the love of God. While this is far from an actual physical hug from the Almighty, it is truly a spiritual hug of gigantic proportions. Paul said it best in his letter to the Philippians - that we can experience a peace in our lives, regardless of our circumstances, that surpasses all human understanding, logic, or wisdom. With such a great promise from God we have lots to be thankful for this week.
In our pick verse today, John’s attention now returns to Heaven as a response to a voice coming from the Temple’s altar. The voice sounds out with a praise that affirms that the Lord God Almighty, is true and just in His judgements. This second voice confirmed what the previous angel had stated in 16:5. The personification of the altar signifies that everyone and everything will praise God, acknowledge His righteousness, and His perfect justice. This heavenly affirmation is to remove all doubt from John, and all future readers, that this coming doom is truly the plan of God. Some biblical scholars suggest that the “voice” from the altar could refer to the souls under the altar – the martyrs – who had been waiting for this day to arrive.
