Friday – November 24th – Revelation 16:10     -----

16:10) Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain.

ALL WE CAN REALLY TAKE WITH US IS WHAT WE HAVE GIVEN AWAY.*

Welcome to Friday. Our inspirational thought today arrives with a little irony and a dash of humor. Today is traditionally known as “Black Friday”, or the unofficial kick-off to the Christmas shopping season. I have never been one of those folks who ventured out in the wee hours of the morning readying myself to push through the doors of a store and pounce upon an unbelievable deal on the latest must have item. Our thought today again reminds me that all our prized possessions will stay behind when we move on to eternity. What we will take to Heaven with us is the blessings of having shared Jesus when the opportunities presented themselves throughout our lives. On this day of “gathering stuff”, spend a few moments thinking about what you can share with others.

Today we read of the arrival of the fifth angel with its bowl of wrath. So far, the avenging angels have poured their bowls onto natural elements: land, sea, waters, and sun. The impact on human life as the things of nature are destroyed can only be described as cataclysmic. Yet, even through these first four bowls of wrath the “beast” is still in charge on the earth. The fifth angel’s bowl is directed at the throne of the beast, meaning that the Antichrist’s center of power is under direct attack from Heaven. John describes that this wrath blacked out the kingdom of the beast. Sensing defeat coming to the temporary reign of the Antichrist, his followers wither in pain from dealing with complete and total darkness around them.
