WHY DO WE SPEND SO MUCH TIME FOCUSING ON THE CONCERNS OF THE WORLD WE’LL SOON LEAVE*
Happy Monday to you! I typically use this opening paragraph to share with you my insights from the inspirational thought of the day or to enlighten you on some of the important SunRise events on the calendar. Today I want to do my part to clear up an understandable confusion surrounding the atypical start to the Advent season. Advent always begins four Sundays prior to Christmas Day. With Christmas Day falling on a Monday, then the four Sundays of Advent are December 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th. Now the confusion may come with Christmas Eve also falling on a Sunday which gives the 24th the dual role of both the fourth Sunday of Advent and Christmas Eve. Now that we have that straightened out, you might want to mark your day planners for 2028 when Christmas next falls on a Monday. In case you are curious, the next Sunday Christmas Day is not until 2033.
In our pick verse for today, John continues his detailed observation of the work of the sixth angel of wrath. Yesterday we read where the Euphrates River was dried up which opened the proverbial door to uncheck invasions from the east. While the threat is yet unseen, it will mean a time of panic for the Antichrist and his forces. For the first time since it came to power, it will face a major and serious military threat. No doubt that the fear of this potential threat is what provokes the “unholy trinity” into one last burst of frantic response. John sees these unholy spirits coming from the devil, the Antichrist, and the false prophet appearing as frogs. Reminiscent of the frog plague in Egypt (the only other time frogs are mentioned in the Bible), they now become forever connected to ushering in the end of time battle between good and evil.
