Sunday – December 3rd – Revelation 16:19   -----

16:19) Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
OUR GOD HAS A BIG ERASER.*

Good first Sunday of Advent to you! Our inspirational thought for today is perfect for a Sunday worship day. There are many reasons we gather for worship, but the biggest is to give thanks to God for His unconditional love extended to us undeserving sinners. When we realize that God is able to erase from our resume all our times of rebellion and prodigal days, then we can worship Him in spirit and truth. I also know that some people fear coming to church because of their past (long-term or recent) indiscretions. Yet, this is the place where a person can encounter a God who carries a big eraser. Invite someone to join you in worship to discover what only God can do out of love.

In our pick verse today, John continues to describe in detail the finality of the world’s existence. Today, his focus is on the demise of the great city Babylon. Biblical scholars understand this to be both a literal and figurative city that represents the culmination of all that opposes the grace, love, and peace of God. Some scholars strongly suggest John is writing this with full intent for his first century readers to overlay Rome in the place of Babylon. Other scholars suggest that the “city” in the end times will be the seat of power for some other empire. Whenever and wherever this divine drama is played out will remain a mystery until God’s perfect moment.

Blessings
