Wednesday – December 27th – Revelation 18:2     -----

18:2) He gave a mighty shout: “Babylon is fallen—that great city is fallen! She has become a home for demons. She is a hideout for every foul spirit, a hideout for every foul vulture and every foul and dreadful animal.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
SEEK NEITHER MORE NOR LESS THAN GOD’S WILL FOR YOU.*

Happy Wednesday to you! Just another reminder that we are inviting all Missouri and Ohio State football fans to come to SunRise for a Cotton Bowl watch party on Friday December 29th. Doors open at 6pm so you can be all settled in for the 7pm kick-off. Wear your teams gear, bring your favorite snacks, your comfy football watching chair, while viewing the game on the big screens in the SunRise worship space. What a great way to spend a friendly Friday night cheering on your team.

In our pick verse for today, John hears and records the words of his new angel guide. Several of Revelation’s angels have been noted as having “loud” voices, but this angel is the only one whose voice is “mighty”. He speaks an authoritative message straight from the presence of God. Similar to words written by the Old Testament prophet Isaiah, who proclaimed the coming end of the Neo-Babylonian civilization. John’s angel is shouting out God’s proclamation for the coming end of all civilization. In the book of Revelation, the nation of Babylon is symbolic for the godless world that is left on earth at this point in future human history. John could have easily inserted in the Roman Empire of his day, but this would have only increased the potential persecution leveled against Christians at the end of the first century.
