Monday – February 5th – Revelation 19:15     -----

19:15) Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE WONDER OF THE CROSS IS NOT THE BLOOD BUT WHOSE BLOOD.*

Good Monday to you! Here is something to add to your planning calendar for February. Next Wednesday, February 14th, marks the beginning of the church season of Lent. SunRise will have two opportunities to receive ashes next week. First, between 7am – 8am, we will offer an open come-and-go time to receive ashes. You may spend as much time as you would like in the peace and solitude of our worship space. Second, on Wednesday evening at 7pm we will offer a community worship service of music, prayer, and the imposition of ashes. Our journey to Easter Sunday this year will focus on creating in each of us a Jesus shaped life.

In our pick verse today, John continues to describe the rider on the white horse as it leaves from the gates of Heaven. As John’s attention returns to the rider on the horse, his focus is on the Jesus’ weapons of war. Congruent with John’s first encounter with Jesus on the island of Patmos in chapter one, he observes the same sharp sword coming from Jesus’ mouth. In today’s setting the sword symbolizes that the time has arrived for Jesus to exercise His power to judge and conquer His enemies. The second weapon is the rider’s iron scepter, which symbolizes Jesus’ ability to overpower and control all hostile powers. The third weapon carried by Jesus is implied by John to be the sickle of judgement when he includes the reference to the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God. No matter what weapons the enemy may possess, Jesus is more than prepared to win a complete and everlasting victory over the forces of sin and hell.

Blessings

Praise God that Jesus was and IS the final Victor!! I’m reading “Revealing Revelation” by Amir Tsarfati and it is going through Revelation slowly and explaining everything in detail (which I definitely need!) It is helping me understand the Scripture like never before! I’m so grateful for this book! 💐
