Sunday – February 25th – Revelation 20:4d -----
20:4) Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
ENVY IS USUALLY THE MOTHER OF GOSSIP.*
Good Sunday to you! And yes, it is going to even be a great Sunday. In addition to an awesome morning of worship, this afternoon we will be celebrating our 2024 Confirmation class with a special service at 5pm in the SunRise worship space. Six young women (yes, all girls this year) will be giving their personal testimony of their faith and belief in Jesus as their savior. The congregation is invited to attend this service to support these young women as they commit to grow in their faith and to serve the Lord throughout their lives. If unable to attend, please pray for this group of young believers: Sophia Chesnut, Ava Layton, Mackensie McCarville, Serena McSpadden, Macey Nabe, and Abey Piper.
In our continuation of verse four, John states that the souls he is observing are being honored for not having worshipped the beast, its image, and had also refused to receive the mark of the beast on their foreheads or hands. I find this an interesting passage when considering that last Wednesday we gathered as a church family to receive a mark of ashes on our foreheads as a sign of our unwavering commitment to God. Interestingly, the devil tries his best to mimic those things God designates as Holy. The devil’s job description is to carefully craft his false teachings to have the appearance of real, legitimate, and sanctioned by God. Although the martyrs John sees had lost their lives for their rejection of the devil’s temptations, they instead had gained their eternal reward. When we remain faithful to God, no amount of suffering on this earth can compare to the glory and riches we receive when we get to Heaven.
Blessings
