20:7) When the thousand years come to an end, Satan will be let out of his prison.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A PERSON WHO “KNOWS EVERYTHING” HAS A LOT TO LEARN.*

Good extra day in February to you! In the spirit of leap year, I want to leap ahead on the calendar and let you know what we have planned for Easter Sunday March 31st. We will be adding an additional morning service on Easter Sunday only. In addition to our normal 8am and 9:45am services we will offer an 11am service that morning. As an extra special bonus for those attending the 11am service, our SEEDS children’s choir will be singing. Mark your calendars now and join us as we celebrate the empty tomb on Easter morning.

In our pick verse today, John refocuses his attention to the devil who was previously bound for a thousand years in The Abyss. This verse is a continuation of verse three, with John acknowledging that Satan will have one last attempt to overthrow God’s plan after he is released from his prison. This verse raises the ultimate question of “why” God would bind then release His greatest enemy. As imagined multiple viewpoints exist attempting to answer this question. It is important to remember that events in this book, as we have seen numerous times already, do not always follow a concise linear timeline. Our modern civilization relies heavily on a systematic unfolding of history, whereas first century societies were noted for overlaying multiple events in more of a circular timeline. Thus, it would not be inaccurate to see that this verse connects back to the final battle as described in both 16:12-21 and 19:17-21. As such it only adds to both the mystery, if not confusion, so often surrounding the understanding of the Book of Revelation.
