Sunday – March 3rd – Revelation 20:10     -----

20:10) Then the devil, who had deceived them, was thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur, joining the beast and the false prophet. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
     UNDERSTANDING CAN WAIT; OBEDIENCE CAN’T.*

Welcome to Sunday! Our inspirational thought for today might be taken at first glance as somewhat contradictory for a Sunday blog. We are conditioned from early on that our Sunday mornings include a component of learning about God. We even provide class opportunities for all ages to help them understand more about God. Most all sermons are seeded with take-aways that point to knowing more about God. Yet, our inspirational thought states that even more important than understanding is to first invest in having a spirit of obedience. If we are to understand and put into practice the things we learn about God, then a willingness to obey is a required foundation to make that happen.

In our pick verse today, John completes, for the rest of the Bible, any reference to Satan or his allies. Here is the only verse in scripture that describes the fulfillment of Matthew 25:41 concerning hell as a place of “eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels”. At last, and forever, the devil’s deceptions will come to an end. In complete humiliation he will be thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, just as the beast and the false prophet had already landed as recorded in 19:20. Day and night in this verse are not literal days and nights in the way we currently experience them. John’s meaning is best translated as “unceasingly” or without end. As surely as Jesus’ eternal kingdom is for ever and ever, so will be the unbearable torment of the devil and his devoted followers.

Blessings
