Saturday – January 23rd – Ephesians 5:30-31
5:30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.
31 "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh."
Welcome to Saturday and your weekend. How has exciting plans for this weekend? Of course, any weekend’s plans should include time spent in worship with a community of other believers. SunRise has both in-building options and on-line worship options all weekend long. Check them out and find a time to worship with us.
Over the next two days Paul draws to a close his teachings on the relationship between husband and wife within a Christian context. Our pick verses today tie together the similarities between spousal relationships and the relationships within the life of a community of faith. As Christians wea re members of the larger body of Christ and our actions can affect others in the church. While Paul utilizes Genesis 2:24 as his quote in verse thirty-one to emphasis the unity of husband and wife, it can also be applied to the mutual respect and love necessary in church relationships. When church members respect and honor each other, it is easier to stay focused on the mission of the church without personal agendas and individual wants getting in the way.
Blessings
