Thursday – February 11th – Philippians 1:3-5
1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy,
5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now,
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A GODLY LIFE IS ALWAYS THE BEST ADVERTISEMENT FOR CHRISTIANITY.*
Thursday is here for this week. Seems like winter has scheduled out a handful of days on our February calendar to remind us of the season of winter will not slip by unnoticed. My prayer is that you can stay safe and warm wherever you find yourself these next few days and into the weekend.
In our pick verses for today, Paul sends his opening greetings to the believers in Philippi. Paul is extremely thankful for the way the Philippians have shared in his missionary ministry and for their personal growth in God’s grace. In verse four, Paul reveals the major theme within this book – “joy”. Along with the related words in various forms: thanks – rejoice – glad, this theme occurs 20 times in this short letter. Paul reminds them of their shared ministry of fellowship in the Gospel of Jesus. True love for Jesus shows itself in daily sacrifice for the sake of the kingdom. The Philippian Christians had sacrificially supported Paul’s ministry from the first day he arrived in Philippi, and even to sending support to Paul while he was now in prison in Rome. What a great reminder of our calling to sacrifice as a follower of Jesus.
Blessings
