Friday – February 26th – Philippians 2:8 ----
2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for Friday
MANY ERRORS IN LIFE RESULT FROM AN INABILITY TO SIT STILL LONG ENOUGH TO READ WHAT GOD HAS WRITTEN.*
Welcome to Friday, and yes, the official end of the week. This also marks the beginning of the second weekend of the season of Lent and the new SunRise discipleship series “The Week That Changed The World”. The last week of Jesus’ life is the most significant marker for all human history. God opened the door of salvation to all people while removing the separation caused by our sin. The gift of grace was extended to any and all who would simply, and humbly, accept what God freely offers. Please make plans to celebrate this gift with us this weekend – either online or in-building.
In our pick verses today, Paul continues to unpack his teaching on having the attitude of Christ in our life. As a whole, verse 5-11 possibly represent one of the earliest Christian hymns depicting the humiliation and exaltation of Christ. In today’s verse Jesus willing humbled Himself even to the extent of a shameful death on the cross. In being full human, Jesus was completely obedient to God, even in His willing to be the ultimate and final sacrifice for the payment of our sinful actions. The cross in the Roman world was a form of capital punishment reserved only for slaves and common criminals. Jesus who left the splendor of Heaven was treated as the lowest of humanity in the manor of His death. Who could effectively argue that Jesus didn’t change the world through His life, death, and resurrection?
Blessings
