Saturday – May 8th – Colossians 3:10-11
3:10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,
11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.
The Daily Walk Bible Inspirational thought for today:
INJUSTICE ANYWHERE IS A THREAT TO JUSTICE EVERYWHERE.*
Happy rainy Saturday to you! With Saturday being a traditional day off for many folks the weather is really disrupting the mowing plans of many of my neighbors. One thing about living in Missouri is that we quickly learn the ability to be flexible when it comes to outdoor weather plans. One thing about being a follower of Jesus is that we also quickly learn to be ready to share our faith when opportunity presents. Wherever you find yourself this weekend may your eyes see those who need to hear about Jesus.
In our pick verses today, Paul concludes this short section on becoming a new person in Christ. When we accept the truth of the Gospel, we become renewed in our knowledge of God. From the example of His life, Jesus teaches us to live a new kind of life. As a fully committed follower of Jesus, we are renewed in spirit according to the pattern of Jesus, who is God’s own image in human form. The best part is that through our relationship with Jesus we all find fulfilled lives in spite of any racial, class, or cultural differences. Christ who lives in all is more than all-sufficient because he has the power to bind us together as one in spirit. In Paul’s day the Scythians were know for their barbaric cruelty to every other race of people they encountered, yet through the power of God’s transformation they are forgiven. It is interesting to note that Paul’s inclusion of “slave” in this list of the divine equality of humanity is punctuated by the fact Onesimus, a slave, was hand delivering this letter to the believers in Colosse.
Blessings
