Monday – May 31st – 1 Thessalonians 1:8-10    ----

1:8 For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything.
9 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,
10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:

Good Memorial Day Monday to you! Today is the day we reflect and remember those who have given their lives in service to our country. This has also become the day where graves are decorated in honor of our loved ones who have passed. Today is a great day to remember the importance of the promise of eternal life in Heaven that God has given to those who put their faith and trust in Jesus. May even more important today is taking time to witness to our family and friends who have not yet said “yes” to God’s gift of salvation.
Today in our pick verses from 1 Thessalonians we close out chapter one and Paul’s focus on the excellent example of the Thessalonian believers. Paul believes that the Gospel witness goes forth like a trumpet note, definite and sure, calling others to a faith in Jesus. This is the result not only in Thessalonica but everywhere the message had been shared. Paul encouraged the Thessalonians, as well as every other community of faith, to live each day so that they would be ready for Jesus’ sudden and unexpected return. In fact, every chapter of this letter concludes with a reference to the reality of the second coming of Christ. This certainly begs the question that we must ask ourselves if we are “ready” at this moment if Jesus were to return.
