Sunday – June 13th – 1 Thessalonians 3:11-13 -----
3:11 Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you.
12 And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you,
13 so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

Happy Sunday to you! What a great day God has given to us for our enjoyment and for our opportunity to praise the creator of the universe. I am reminded of the words from the traditional doxology – “praise God from whom all blessings flow”. How can we not approach each, and every, day of our life – in good times or times of challenge – without first putting those words on our lips? I am convinced that our day would/could/will be a whole lot better with an attitude that is centered on the power and promise of God. Have a great Sunday!
In our pick verses for today we close out the third chapter of Paul’s letter to the believers in Thessalonica. Paul also uses these three verses to introduce a prayer for holiness. Paul is both direct and specific in his prayer. The Thessalonians are to abound in showing acts of love to both believers and non-believers. This simple act of love is the essence of holiness that John Wesley describes as “perfect love”. The ultimate goal of Paul’s prayer is the creation of holy people for the work of the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. To have our hearts blameless before God is to be pure in body, mind, and spirit. It is a life of holiness flowing from God’s gift of complete inner sanctification. As we move into chapter four, Paul will teach on how we are to live out this goal of sanctification.
