Monday – October 4th – 1 Timothy 6:20-21     -----

6:20 O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge--
21 by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
FAITH IS TO BELIEVE WHAT WE DO NOT SEE, AND THE REWARD OF THIS FAITH IS TO SEE WHAT WE BELIEVE.*

Good Monday to you!  Our inspirational thought today hits at the heart of what it means to be a follower of Jesus in the twenty-first century. The disciples and many of the early followers all had personal knowledge of Jesus. The twelve apostles watched his every move, listened to His teachings, broke bread together, and sat around the evening campfire in fellowship. Their faith included a strong mixture of first-hand personal experience. Our faith, however, relies solely on believing that which we have not seen in person. Yet, if we are patient, someday we will have a front-row opportunity to be greeted by Jesus as we enter through the gates of Heaven. Our reward for faith is guaranteed through the never changing promises of God, but when we will receive this awesome reward is in God’s perfect timing.

In our pick verses today, we conclude Paul’s first letter to Timothy with a few personal but important instructions. Above all else, Timothy is to be a guardian of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His charge is to preserve it and pass it on unchanged. The first century church, like today’s churches, was challenged by false teachings, altered gospels, and human speculations that were proudly promoted as “new” or “enlightened” knowledge. Christianity, has, and will always be based on faith in the Gospel as revealed by God in Jesus and recorded in holy scripture. Those who teach contrary views have strayed away from God’s truth. Paul began and now concludes this letter on the same note: whatever is contrary to sound scripture doctrine leads to spiritual ruin. Wow, things really haven’t changed much in two thousand years.

Blessings
