Wednesday – January 19th – Hebrews 4:14-16     -----

4:14) Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
15) For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16) Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
IN GOD’S STRATEGY FOR SUCCESSFUL LIVING, CHARACTER IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN INTELLIGENCE.*

Good Wednesday to you! What a great time for a mid-week check in for our focus on being a better you in 2022. What ways to deepen your faith and strengthen your walk have you engaged in this week? Our inspirational thought today is a great reminder of where we should see the place God works best in our life. Yes, intelligence is important to help us seek out opportunities in life, but our character is what will create a visible integrity in our lives that others will hopefully choose to follow in their life. Who has been a character-building influence in your life? Have you taken the steps to pattern your character after them? Who might you be intentional in helping them build their character in Christ this week?

In our pick verse today, we conclude chapter four in the New Testament book of Hebrews. These three verses introduce what will become an on-going focus on Jesus being a High Priest who meets our spiritual needs. Jesus is the eternal son of God who has entered the very presence of God in Heaven. No matter the challenges or struggles we encounter in life we must never abandon our faith in Him. Because Jesus has experienced first-hand the temptations and struggles of humanity, He offer to us the strength to overcome sin because he successfully overcame every from of temptation thrown at Him. Through His sacrificial death on the cross Jesus has made the throne of the God’s grace a place where previously undeserving people receive God’s love and blessings. There we can find mercy and final forgiveness for our sins. We can receive the power of the Holy Spirit to help us overcome temptation in all forms. Therefore, we are encouraged to come boldly to the throne of grace in prayer confidently expecting to receive God’s blessings and peace. These verses speak directly to the heart of what Jesus’ purpose was to come to earth as a human and to take on the penalty of our sins. We have so much to be thankful for and should do all we can to express thanksgiving through service, generosity, and witness.

Blessings
  Pastor Jim
