Saturday – February 12th – Hebrews 7:23-25 ------
7:23) Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing.
24) But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.
25) Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE REASON SO MANY PEOPLE KNOW THE SOLUTION IS THAT THEY CREATED THE PROBLEM.*
Hello Saturday! My hope is you have some wonderful plans this weekend to really enjoy life and celebrate the wonderful world that God has created. I, myself, am ecstatic to be heading to the SunRise kitchen this morning to be part of the freezer meal fixin’ team for Serve Saturday. I also must admit there was a combination of a chuckle and a little burn as I read the inspirational thought for today. The inspirational thoughts typically run a gambit of deadly serious to wildly humorous in their presentation – all intended to bring us closer to God through trust, faith, and obedience. At times they possess the ability to strike both directions at the same time. Our personal human perspectives will be the determining factor as to how each one hits us based on where we are in our spiritual journey. Today was one that for me landing on both spots of the extremes. How about you?
In our pick verses today, our author moves to the reality that Jesus, as God in the flesh, has neither beginning nor end – he is eternal forevermore. Because Jesus continues forever, He has a permanent and unchangeable priesthood. Therefore, Jesus has the ability and authority to save people to the degree of the “uttermost”. According to John Wesley, Jesus has the power to save us from the guilt, power, root, and consequence of our personal sin. However, for us to obtain this full salvation we must surrender to God our heart, soul, mind, and strength. This can only be done through pray and trusting in Jesus’ full and complete and perfect sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection from the dead.
Blessings
