Sunday – February 13th – Hebrews 7:26-28     -----

7:26) For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens;
27) who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people's, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.
28) For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
      COURAGE IS THE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO FEAR WHAT OUGHT TO BE FEARED AND HOW NOT TO FEAR WHAT OUGHT NOT TO BE FEARED.*

    Happy and blessed Sunday to you! Not only is today a great day to spend time worshiping God, today is also Super Bowl Sunday. And yes, the SunRise youth would love for our in-building folks to stop by after worship and grab some soup for lunch or for your super-duper parties later in the day. The proceeds will help support the youth mission trip to Appalachia and the youth retreat. This would also be a great time to remind folks of the adult mission trip to Appalachia June 12th – 17th. If you would like more information about the adult trip please contact me – jdblue@sunrisefamily.org

     In our pick verses today, we conclude chapter seven of the authors in-depth exploration of the contrast between Jesus and the Levitical priesthood. Today’s three verses are a summary reminder of what the preceding twenty-five verses stated as well as an introduction to the next three chapters. Jesus is God’s perfect fit as High Priest. As human beings we are sinful, but Jesus is holy. We are separated from God because of our sin, but Jesus has already reentered God’s presence in full holiness and divine righteousness. By offering up Himself for our sins, He has been perfected forever as our savior. His sacrifice was perfect and perfectly appropriate for the final act of atonement between God and humanity; this atonement was not achieved by gifts offered according to the law of Moses. Therefore, Jesus is able to mediate a perfect covenant of blessing on our behalf. To help us better understand the significant of this new covenant we will explore it in more detail in chapters 8 -10.

Blessings
