Saturday – March 5th – Hebrews 9:27-28 -----
9:27) And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
28) so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
GOD WILL KEEP ALL HIS PROMISES WHETHER YOU BELIEVE THEM OR NOT!*
Good Saturday to you! Plus the first weekend in March is here and the weather for today is on track for some great outdoor fun and activities. The inspirational thought for today is one of those factual statements that we can read with great confidence and absolute certainty. The section of the Daily Walk Bible this comes from is the middle of the OT book of Joshua and records the conquest of the promised land by the Israelites. God had spent forty years preparing the Israelites to learn obedience, trust, and faith through experience. When they stepped off that path God was true to carry out promised discipline. More importantly when they followed God’s instructions they were richly blessed. I think it is important to remember that the Israelites were transitioning from slaves to warriors and God knew that it would take time to reshape their minds and their methods. One of the important lessons they learned was that God always keeps His promises even if we chose not to believe based on our human logic. How many times in your life have you experienced God fulfilling promises?
In our pick verses today, we close out the ninth chapter of the New Testament book of Hebrews. As a quick reminder the author’s original audience were Jewish people making the transition from Judaism to Christianity. The movement required a reshaping of their minds away from long-standing traditions and prescribed rituals to embracing a new way of worshiping God. Just as people die only once, and then are judged for their sins, Jesus died only once for our sins. He took the punishment for the sins of everyone. But only those who eagerly wait for His second coming will received salvation in Heaven. Jesus’ second coming is not intended to deal with sin again, but to bring into reality God’s promise of salvation and eternity in Heaven. And that is a promise from God that you can count on with the full confidence of one who believes in the Good News of Jesus.
Blessings
