Tuesday – March 8th – Hebrews 10:5-7 -----
10:5) Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me.
6) In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure.
7) Then I said, 'Behold, I have come-- In the volume of the book it is written of Me-- To do Your will, O God.' "
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WHEN SIN IS FASHIONABLE, CHRISTIANS SHOULD BE OUT OF FASHION.*
Happy Tuesday to you! We are currently and officially experiencing “flip a coin” weather this week. Yes, each day’s weather has become completely independent from the day before or the day after. A day in shorts is followed by a day in long johns and some days the switch can be required in mid-day – and then in either direction. I am glad the word of God never changes regardless of the day or date on the calendar. Our inspirational thought for today stands on the unchanging premise that sin, any type of sin, is unacceptable in the eyes of God. No amount of cultural acceptance or societal encouragement can change the devastating consequences of giving into the temptations the evil one puts in our path. As we journey in this season of Lent may we willing choose to be “out of fashion” when it comes to sin.
In our pick verses today, we continue to explore the depths of Jesus’ sacrifice being once and for all people. Jesus quotes from Psalm 40:6-8 to show that He had come into the world to fulfil the type of sacrifice that had God pre-ordained to accomplish complete forgiveness of sin. Jesus became for us fully human so that He could offer Himself as the perfect sacrifice. God’s new and living way for us to please Him is not by keeping laws or even by abstaining from sin. It is by coming to Him in faith to be forgiven and then to follow His word in loving obedience. The more we yield in obedience to God the more we discover God’s peace and protection as the devil seeks to destroy our relationship both in Heaven and on earth.
Blessings
