Wednesday - March 9th – Hebrews 10:8-9 -----
10:8) Previously saying, "Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them" (which are offered according to the law),
9) then He said, "Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God." He takes away the first that He may establish the second.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
IF SEEING IS BELIEVING, THE TRUE SKEPTIC REFUSES TO LOOK.*
Happy Wednesday to you! Yes, it is already the middle of the week. For those who have accepted the Lent challenge to memorize a verse of scripture each of the next seven weeks – how is week one going? What verse have you not only worked to memorize but are finding ways to apply it to your life and faith journey? By the way it is not too late to jump in and join us in this verse memorization challenge. We can never underestimate the power of scripture and the power of being able to utilize scripture to ward off the temptations of the evil one. Scripture can be a source of strength, peace, calmness, assurance, and confidence no matter the situation before us or the circumstances we face in life.
In our pick verses today, we continue exploring the importance of Jesus’ perfect sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins. Yesterday our verses included Jesus quoting from Psalm 40:6 to show that God did not use the sacrifices prescribed by the law to achieve forgiveness of human sin. In today’s verses, by quoting Psalm 40:7-8, Jesus assumes the role as the representative of humanity and through His own obedience to the will of God stands in the place of animal sacrifices. Only one who lived in complete obedience to the will and word of God could be an effective sacrifice. As humans we sin and fall short of the mark God has set for each of us, therefore no one could ever qualify to represent the entirety of humanity. Jesus in his perfect and sinless nature stepped in to take our place and as a result we have the opportunity to be restored to a right and proper relationship with God. And my friends, that is the Good News we can share today with others.
Blessings
