Friday – March 25th – Hebrews 11:2 ------
11:2) For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
ONE PERSON WITH A DREAM IS EQUAL TO NINETY-NINE WHO HAVE ONLY INTERESTS.*
Happy Friday! One of the mainstays for Fridays during this time of year is the plethora of fish fry opportunities available in a short distance from the shadow of all our mailboxes. If you consider yourself an expert on fish fry locations and have a favorite few – please share so we all can enjoy. Our inspirational thought today packs a big wallop of reality. A list of our personal interests can probably be easily created, but when it comes to dreaming the big dreams of life that list is smaller and harder to create. In some circles being a “dreamer” is discouraged – even Joseph in the Old Testament was chastised by his brothers for being a dreamer of dreams. By contrast the Old Testament prophet Joel is quoted by Jesus as saying that when the Holy Spirit comes on people one of the results will be that “old men will dream dreams”. So, it can’t be bad to dream if Jesus encouraged it through the work of the Holy Spirit. What dream has the Holy Spirit given you for the benefit of believers and the Kingdom of Heaven?
In our pick verse for today we continue on the path to seek a deeper understanding of the true nature of faith in God. Today our author ties back to the faith of the Old Testament heroes, a faith that was valid long before Jesus appeared. Through the record of scripture, it is noted that by faith they were obedient, endured suffering, accomplished God’s will, and obtained for themselves a good testimony based on God’s approval. Such faith is a witness to others and encourages faith, loyalty to God, and is the basis of endurance in the Christian life. If we remain faithful, we will be the spiritual heirs of these Old Testament saints. Heroes of the faith are not limited to the Old Testament saints but exist in abundance in the here and now. Who is in your personal spiritual hall of fame?
Blessings
