Thursday – April 14th – Hebrews 11:39-40     -----

11:39)   And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise,
40) God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
TRUE PRAYER IS A WAY OF LIFE, NOT JUST AN EMERGENCY DETOUR.*

Happy Thursday to you! In the Holy Week storyline Thursday is associated with the Passover meal wherein Jesus and the disciples celebrated in the upper room. John’s gospel of the upper room story recorded Jesus’ washing the disciple’s feet as His example of our being called to serve others. Following the meal, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray, and it was there he was arrested by the Temple guards on behalf of the religious establishment. All of these events, as they played out, were prophesied in the Old Testament as part of God’s plan of salvation for you and me.

In our pick verses today the author of Hebrews concludes this eleventh chapter on faith. These faithful champions of Old Testament faith did not receive during their earthly life the promise of salvation that comes through Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection. The salvation made available to us is the “something better” in God’s perfect plan for Christian believers. Yet the Old Testament faithful looked with anticipation to this salvation coming, and now through Jesus they are now made perfect in their relationship with God. We are blessed because we are aware of the promise that comes from God and that it is offered to us right now. We can help others discover what we already know as fact. And what a great week to work in the field of witnessing – folks are naturally drawn to be a bit more curious during this season of the year.

Blessings
