The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
OBEDIENCE SHEDS LIGHT ON THE HIDDEN THINGS OF GOD.*

Good Thursday to you! Our inspirational thought for today cuts right to the heart of what it means to be a fully committed follower of Jesus. As I read this statement, I realize that being fully committed is not totally dependent on a timeline of always being nose in the Bible or thinking about Jesus. Being fully committed is really a life dedicated to following the words and commands of Jesus. Obedience in its simplest form is following the instructions given to us by someone who has our best interest at heart. God’s instructions are designed to enrich our relationships with others and provide checks and balances on how we live our lives. Some folks want to challenge God’s instructions as being restrictive and void of “fun” options. If we view God as one who loves us unconditionally, then His instructions are to protect us from harm – spiritually, physically, emotionally, and/or psychologically.  When we are obedient to God’s will, God’s word, and God’s way for our lives then we have a life that is blessed and abundantly filled with peace and joy. And who doesn’t want that?

Our pick verse today begins to summarize the author’s call to personal spiritual holiness for all believers. In this verse the church militant and the church triumphant are both pictured within. The church of the firstborn includes the faithful now living on earth who are pre-registered as future residents of Heaven. Even now they can enjoy the presence of God through access to the scriptures, through the opportunity to pray, and through times of witness and service. On the other hand, the “spirits of the just” are the faithful, including the Old Testament saints, who have died in faith. Although God is the judge of all, they are at home in Heaven with Him because they have been made perfect in their faith by Christ. The old hymn rightly states – when we all get to heaven what a great day of rejoicing it will be. I plan on being there, how about you?

Blessings
