Friday – August 5th – James 5:9     -----

5:9) Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look—the Judge is standing at the door!

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE MOST DANGEROUS OF ALL FALSE DOCTRINES ARE THOSE SEASONED WITH A LITTLE TRUTH.*

Hello Friday! Yes, we have reached the ending day of another week. I pray that you will wrap up this week having received blessings from God and having sent blessings to others. We have a busy Saturday at SunRise which includes a little something for everyone. Cars and Coffee will fill the parking lot beginning at 8am. Our quarterly Serve Saturday covers the later part of the morning. If you are interested in serving, go to www.sunrisefamily.org/events to signup and volunteer. If you are a fan of the fine arts, the Midwest Center for Creative Arts (MCCA) will be presenting the classic drama “The War of The Worlds” at 3pm in the SunRise worship space with a $10 admission charge. Chose one or all three activities to complement you Saturday activities.

Our pick verses today continue James’ teaching on displaying patience in times of suffering as we wait for the return of the Lord. In these verses James depicts Jesus as the judge at the end of times. This is the flip side of his point yesterday. The hope of the Second Coming does provide comfort in times of trails. However, the sobering reality that Christ will return to judge the living and the dead is the reason James cautions those tempted to complain amid their trials. Living with difficult circumstances can cause a believer to become frustrated, lose patience, and even complain against one another, especially against those who appear to be less than they are or who seem to be adding to their troubles. James gives a simple by powerful motive for avoiding the temptation of complaining – don’t judge lest you be judged. This is great wisdom for all of us, as the devil will always cast a shadow that can cause us to envy or judge others. We all need to stand firm in the word, way, and will of God.

Blessing
