Tuesday – August 16th – 1 Peter 1:1     -----

1) This letter is from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to God’s chosen people who are living as foreigners in the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
TO GET THROUGH THE HARDEST JOURNEY, TAKE ONLY ONE STEP AT A TIME, BUT IN GOD’S STRENGTH KEEP ON STEPPING.*

Good Tuesday to you! Our inspirational thought today is a great encourager regardless of what a person is going through in life. Culture and society will gladly suggest all kinds of quick-fix remedies to heal our aliments, change our struggles, or downplay our challenges. But the word of God, accompanied with God being on the journey of life with us, will give us the courage to take the next step forward. Psalm 23 speaks to me when David writes that the Lord walks with us through our valleys. We are never alone or without the power and presence of God in our lives. While some of you country fans would give original credit to Rodney Akins for his song/message that “if you are going through hell keep on going”, he actually borrowed that saying from Winston Churchill. Paul said it even better– “if God is for us who can be against us?”

In our pick verse today, we begin with the opening words of greeting from Peter’s first letter in the New Testament. Peter was an apostle of Jesus because he had seen the risen Christ and had been commissioned by Jesus to preach the Good News of the Gospel. Peter identifies his audience, not by a singular church, but by their geographical locations scattered throughout the area of Asia Minor. Even though God’s people lived throughout the known world of Peter’s day, their true citizenship was recorded in Heaven. As followers of Jesus, we are to be in the world but not of the world. As followers of Jesus, we will experience the rejection that comes from the world, yet we can find our strength in knowing that this life is transient and temporary. The reward of our endurance will be that our eternity will be spent in Heaven in the presence of God and all the saints of the faith.

Blessings
