Wednesday – August 24th – 1 Peter 5:13     -----

13) So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
MANY PROBLEMS, LIKE STORMS, NEVER ARRIVE IN SPITE OF THREATENING SKIES.*

Olá, bom dia Wednesday!  You folks are doing great in playing our international greeting game. If nothing else, we are expanding our vocabulary and are now ready to travel the world. Our inspirational thought is one that I really needed to hear today, both professionally and personally. How many times in life, well more like in a week, ok if we are honest in a day, do we find something to worry about. It may be something brewing well off in the future or a sense of billowing clouds right outside our door. Whatever the actual timing might be, I can easily become focused on what may or may not happen with things over which I have no control. Shame on me! I wish I was quicker on remembering the many places that the Bible states that we are to trust in the Lord for all our needs, our provisions, and our protections.

In our pick verse today Peter transitions from his teaching on perseverance in times of suffering to begin a new teaching on our personal call to holy living. The always possible imminent return of Jesus should motivate every believer to live their lives like, and for, Jesus. We achieve this by being spiritually connected, mentally alert, intentionally disciplined, and laser focused on the things not of this world. Our lives as fully committed followers of Jesus require a 24/7 commitment to discipleship. If we attempt to only be a once a week on Sunday morning Christian, we become vulnerable to the attacks of the evil one. if we deposit Jesus at the exit door, we leave church without the protection that God wants to provide throughout the week. I am reminded of the old hymn, sung at the end of services – “Take the Name of Jesus With You”. Better yet take Jesus with you!

Blessings
