Monday – October 10th – 1 Peter 4:4-5     -----

4:4) Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you.
5) But remember that they will have to face God, who stands ready to judge everyone, both the living and the dead.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
I HAVE A GREAT NEED FOR CHRIST; I HAVE A GREAT CHRIST FOR MY NEED.*

Good Monday to you! Is it just me or does it seem like Monday happens about every other day? By the end of this week, we will be at the halfway point of October, and here I am just now getting use to writing 2022 on my checks. Our inspirational thought for today is a powerful pushback to those who suggest that religion is simply a crutch for the weak-minded. To those who are critical of the existence of God, they claim followers of Jesus have self-created a “Mary Poppins” attitude to help them through the challenges of life. These critics insist that when our last breath on earth is exhaled there is nothing more, nothing to transition to, and certainly nothing waiting to reward us for our earthy endurance. However, as believers we place our faith in the unseen, we rely on the promises of an invisible deity, we place our hope in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. And in the end, if we are wrong (which we aren’t) it is far better than those who don’t believe and suffer the consequences of being wrong.

In our pick verse today, Peter continues to provide encouragement for believers who face harsh criticism for their faith. Unbelievers struggle in understanding the new actions of believers when a believer’s participation in sinful habits have ceased because of their relationship with Jesus. These former friends may even intentionally speak evil of Christians or even engage in forms of modern-day persecution. But scripture reminds us over and over that they will have to give an account of their actions to God on the last day when God sits in judgement of each human being. Believers are blessed, because standing in the front of that judgement scene is Jesus who intercedes for those who have given their lives to God. This is where we will fully experience the blessing of the forgiveness of sin through God’s unconditional love and grace.

Blessings
