3:15) And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him—
16) speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE TRUE MEANING OF THE GOSPEL IS NOT WHAT A PERSON SAYS ABOUT IT, BUT HOW IT CHANGES HIS OR HER LIFE.*

Great Sunday to you! Today is the third Sunday in the season of Advent and with it we light the candle of joy. Our inspirational thought is a perfect companion to this time of year. The Gospel is more than words on a page or theological concepts discussed in Bible study classes. While it can be easy to talk about the Gospel, it is far more difficult to let the work and words of Jesus transform your life into a follower of the savior. My old football coach once said that I talked a good game. Talking didn’t make me an effective player. I had to prove my worth on the field in game situations. We can say we are a Christian but until our lives bear fruit as evidence of being changed, we are just talking a good game.

In our pick verses today, Peter is beginning to wrap up his challenge to first century believers by drawing from the work of fellow apostle Paul. Like Peter, Paul was not exempt from false teachers twisting his teachings to benefit themselves. These false teachers claimed that Paul’s doctrine of salvation by grace meant Christians could still live in sin without consequences. But Paul himself commanded holy living and emphatically denied these perversions of his teachings. The unchanging message of the Gospel remains as powerful today as it did in the days of Peter and Paul. And the tactics of the evil one are still as deceptive today as when spoken through the false teachers of each and every previous generation. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we will always see the truth of God leading us in love and grace.

Blessings
