THAT GOD CREATED US FROM DUST IS NO REASON TO TREAT ANOTHER PERSON LIKE DIRT.*
Happy New Year and Happy Sunday! Yes, today is the day for new beginnings and fresh starts. We begin the sixth year of our daily scripture blog which in the beginning (January 1, 2018) was intended to last only one year. Today we also re-start our inspirational thoughts correlated to the beginning chapters of the Bible – and for those reading the Daily Walk Bible, or other “in-a-year” plans, we are “in the beginning”. Our inspirational thought is a great one to help set our attitude for this new year. How we treat others – both those we like and those with whom we differ – is one of the greatest qualities we can inherit from the example of Jesus. Whatever your resolutions for 2023 include may having the attitude of Jesus in our lives be at the top of your and my list.
In our pick verse today, John concludes this section of teaching on walking in the love of Jesus. In this verse John contrasts the choice that each person has in their life. We can either walk in the love and light of God, fully trusting for our every need. Or we can choose to seek after the offerings of the world influenced by the deceptions of Satan. At God’s chosen moment in time, unknow to us, this sinful world with all its godless attractions will someday be no more. It ends for every person at their death. Those who chose the way of the world will discover that their path leads to permanent separation for God. Those who choose the path of righteousness and who do the will of God in their life will be welcomed into the eternal life prepared for us in Heaven. May all of us make the choices that lead to eternity in God’s presence.
