2:18) Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the last hour has come.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
SATAN, LIKE A FISHERMAN, BAITS HIS HOOK ACCORDING TO THE APPETITE OF THE FISH.*

Hello Monday! I hope you are ready to launch into this first week of 2023. Plans are in place, strategies are prepared, and calendars are aligned with living into pour perfect set of resolutions. What could possibly go wrong? Well, our inspirational thought for today is the reality reminder of life. Satan’s job description is to disrupt our lives and destroy our relationships. I needed to be reminded that Satan has no power over us at any point or in any moment. Temptation is just that – tempting us, because of our own choice, to follow a path that goes against God’s will and often against our better judgement. We are not pushed or never made “to do”, but simple baited by Satan in our areas of weakness. Every sin is a sin of our own choosing – no one to blame but ourselves. But the great news is that when we lean into the power of the Holy Spirit, we have in our possession all the power needed to resist any temptation.

In our pick verse today, John introduces a new teaching subject in this second chapter. Over the course of the next twelve verses, we will be reassured that those who acknowledge that Jesu-s is the Savior, receives this knowledge because they are fully connected to God. John reminds us that Jesus’ return may and can come at any moment. As disciples we are to live as Jesus is always on the verge of returning. Also, in this verse John states that the “antichrist” will come at the end of the age claiming the loyalty due to Jesus only. The opposition in John’s day took many forms (no different today), but they all had one thing in common: they did not accept the gospel of salvation that comes through the gift of God’s Son, Jesus the Christ. Some of these false teachers denied the humanity of Jesus while others denied His deity. Either way their false teachings took away from the power of God’s plan of salvation for humanity. We are blessed to have the fullness of scripture and the test of time to help us stay faithful to the truth of the Gospel.

Blessings
