Tuesday January 3, 2023

Tuesday – January 3rd – 1 John 2:19-21     -----

2:19) These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us.
20) But you are not like that, for the Holy One has given you his Spirit, and all of you know the truth.
21) So I am writing to you not because you don’t know the truth but because you know the difference between truth and lies.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
GOD MAY NOT PROMISE A COMFORTABLE JOURNEY, BUT HE DOES GUARANTEE A SAFE LANDING.*

Happy Tuesday to you! I bet by now you have this whole new year thing completely under control. I heard a person say their number one resolution as they start this new year is to write 2023 when a date is required. I also heard a report that the average day on the calendar for people to abandon their new year’s resolutions is January 19th. My hope is that whatever your commitment is in the area of spiritual growth continues well beyond that date on the calendar. For those who are joining in reading the Bible in a year and recently ordered The Daily Walk Bible reading program, I have heard there is about a week to ten-day shipping on the book. So, until then, I will provide the daily readings so you can stay up until your book arrives.
January 1 – Genesis 1-2,
January 2 – Genesis 3-5,
January 3 – Genesis 6-9,
January 4 – Genesis 10-11,
January 5 – Genesis 12-14,
January 6 – Genesis 15-17,
January 7 – Reflection and Catchup Reading Day,
January 8 – Genesis 18-20.

In our pick verses today, John continues sharing what is required of believers to walk in the light of Jesus. John identifies that those who rebelled against sound teaching could have been well visible within the life of the church, but who really weren’t part of God’s true believers. Their actions and words did not reflect having the mind or attitude of Christ within them. When we know the truth and live in the truth of God’s word our lives are illuminated by the Holy Spirit for others to see. The same Holy Spirit serves to guard believers from the doubts and denials championed by false teachers. God reveals all that is needed for our salvation and security when we spend time reading, studying, and reflecting on His word. What a great reason to be spending 2023 reading through the Bible.

Blessings
