A FAITH THAT FAILS BEFORE THE FINISH WAS FAULTY FROM THE FIRST.*

Good Saturday to you! The weekend is here and 2023 is well underway. Tomorrow is the second week of our new series – “Overcoming A Spiritual Slump”. This week our focus is on what causes us to become distracted in our spiritual walk. Spiritual distractions can be directly linked to the temptations the devil throws our way. When unchecked, spiritual distractions can easily transition from temptation into sinful actions. And suddenly we find ourselves riding the dangerous wave of a spiritual slump. Join us either in-building (8a & 9:45a) or online (9:45a, or after) to worship with SunRise this weekend.

In our pick verse for today, John concludes his short focus on gaining our freedom from sin. On the surface this is a very heavy verse of scripture. John’s statement that it is inconceivable for a person who claims to be born of God to also live a life of sin. If they do, they are denying what God did when He saved them through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Sin is incompatible with Jesus’ new nature given to each believer. The hard part of this verse is what reads as the absolute in John’s words. The important defining of this verse is that John is identifying a person who life is still filled with ongoing, intentional, and unrepented sin. He is not referring to people who are under the attack of Satan and who on occasion fall to temptation. When that happens, God is readily available and willing to forgive us of that sin and place us back into right relationship with Him.

Blessings
