Sunday – January 29th – 1 John 4:9-10     -----

2:9) In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
10) In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
GOD DESERVES TO BE SERVED WITH ALL THE ENERGY OF WHICH WE ARE CAPABLE.*

Happy Sunday to you! What a great inspirational thought for us to read on this day we are called to rest from our labors and focus our attention on worshiping God. Making a commitment to follow Jesus can be interpreted in many different ways. At the heart of any interpretation is the lens in which we view individual commitment. When the lens is focused by our input and our drawing up the terms of commitment than we probably will fall far short of what God expects from us. What I have discovered is that God’s level of commitment from me is never beyond what I can achieve when I trust Him for the details. When I gauge my level of commitment on what I think I can do, I miss God’s mark by a mile. Yes, God’s level of commitment expectations is top shelf and will require some sacrifice on our part. But in the end, it is well worth giving every bit of our energy to serve the Kingdom of Heaven.

In our pick verses today, John continues teaching on how perfect love brings assurance in our relationship with Jesus. God has shown us how much He loved us by sending His son Jesus to be the propitiation (atonement) for our sins. Through Jesus’ sacrificial death He released us from the guilt and penalty of our sins. God Himself, by and through the nature of the trinity, paid the price for our salvation. When we repent, God joyously gives us the gift of eternal life. What greater love could there be? John masterfully links our believing in Jesus with our love for one another. Jesus shows us God’s love, and only by knowing His love can we correctly love others.

Blessings
