Saturday – February 18th – 1 John 5:18-20 -----
5:18) We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.
19) We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
20) And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A LITTLE SIN WILL ADD TO YOUR TROUBLE, SUBTRACT FROM YOUR ENERGY, AND MULTIPLY YOUR DIFFICULTIES.*
Good Saturday to you! What an awesome inspirational thought for us today and presented as a math equation no less. Many times, when we are faced with a temptation in our lives all we see, by the devil’s design, is the supposed “win” for us when we bite. Rarely, do we take the time to look past the action to project the potential consequences. Every sin, regardless of how we chose to rank them, will produce the same outcome time -separation from God. The harsh reality of our future depleted energy and multiplied difficulties, if included in our pre-sin assessment, would cause most of us to shake our head at even the most tempting temptation. Next time the devil offers you the chance of a lifetime, take a moment to think past the “wow” and instead anticipate the “whoa”.
In our pick verses today, John begins the wrap up of his teaching on the secret to experiencing an abundant life in Christ. When we are connected to Jesus there are three things of which we can be certain. 1) Anyone who is born of God will strive to keep themselves from sin. 2) Number one is only possible by depending on the power of God and our intentionally cooperating with the will of God, even though this sinful world in which we live is dominated by the work of the devil. 3) We can live an abundant with confidence that we have the only true option for eternal life because we accepted Jesus as our savior and His offer of salvation. In a world suggesting many options to happiness we have chosen the way, the truth, and the life – Jesus.
Blessings
