Saturday – February 25th – 2 John 1:7 -----
1:7) I say this because many deceivers have gone out into the world. They deny that Jesus Christ came in a real body. Such a person is a deceiver and an antichrist.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
ENVY IS USUALLY THE MOTHER OF GOSSIP.*
Good Saturday to you! This weekend begins our new Lent series – “Truth Be Told”. The source of all spiritual truth is found within the pages of the Holy Bible, As followers of Jesus we turn to what scriptures tell us about how we live our life on this earth and what we must believe to gain eternal life. In the Bible itself one of the best ways to discover truth is to read what is in “red”. Many of the older models of the Bible will put the direct words of Jesus in red print. One source of the red print in the Gospels is in the parables of Jesus. These stories contained the truth for our relationship with God. Over the next six weeks we will immerse ourselves into the great parables told by Jesus. In in each of those stories we will experience the real truth as it is told by Jesus. Join us in-building at 8am or in-building/live stream at 9:45am. On demand options begin at 10:45am on either the SunRise Church YouTube channel or SunRise App on your smartphone or smart TV.
In our pick verse for today, John moves to the second of this two focuses for this last chapter. The next few verses warn his readers to avoid deceivers of the truth. Besides knowing, following, and living out the truth of God, we must also be able to recognize destructive heresy. The central doctrine of the Christian faith is that Jesus the Christ is the eternal Son of God who became human and died for our sins. Anyone who denies this doctrine is both a deceiver and an “antichrist” – the very opposite of what a Christian should be. Those who make a practice to deceive other people from following the truth of the Gospel should be avoided at all costs.
Blessings
Pastor Jim
