Saturday – March 4th – 3 John 2 -----
1:2) Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WHEN WE ARE TRULY WITNESSING, WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT OURSELVES BUT ABOUT CHRIST.*
Hello Saturday and hello to the first weekend in March. Tomorrow is the second week of our Lent series – “Truth Be Told”. In this series, we are looking to the ultimate source of truth – the words of Jesus as recorded in the Bible. For this series we are focusing on a handful of Jesus’ parables that seek directly to the importance of decision and discipleship. Tomorrow we will walk through the parable of the rich man and Lazarus from Luke 16. You are invited to join us inbuilding at SunRise for either 8am or 9:45am worship. Online folks can join the live-stream at 9:45am or on-demand anytime after 11am Sunday. You can find SunRise worship through the SunRise App, SunRise website, SunRise Facebook page, or by going directly to the SunRise Church YouTube channel. And if you haven’t subscribed to the YouTube channel, please do so, as we are only 3 short of 400 subscribers. Go Team SunRise.
In our pick verse today, John takes a brief moment to send words of encouragement to his beloved friend Gaius, the primary recipient of this letter. John wished a threefold blessing over Gaius. Frist, that he would prosper in his business ventures. Gaius used the wealth he had acquired by opening his home to the traveling evangelists doing missionary work for the Kingdom. Second, John sought a blessing for Gaius’ physical health. And third, blessings for Gaius’ continual spiritual growth. What physical health is to the body, personal holiness is to the spiritual life of the believer. John knew the importance for Gaius to be spiritually wise so that he could discern God ordained teachers from the false teachers who arrived at the doorsteps of his church community. God gives each of us the opportunity to grow spiritually so we can better discern good from bad teachings. May we choose to use the wisdom God provides to keep our souls spiritually healthy.
Blessings
