Thursday – March 16th – Jude 1:3     -----

1:3) Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

Good Thursday to you! Our SunRise public service announcement for this Thursday highlights Cini-Mini Sunday this coming weekend. Yes, we will have Cini-Minis from Bridge Bread in the McClure Lobby before and after both services. In addition to on the spot enjoyment, you can also place an order for any of the items from Bridge Bread and receive delivery next Sunday. There will be folks at the Cini-Mini table, next to the coffee bar, who can help you with your order. Bridge Bread is a ministry that trains folks to become skilled bakers, and then helps them find stable employment in the St. Louis area. If you are not in the building this weekend, let us know and we can assist in helping you place an order.

In our pick verse today, Jude continues with his heartfelt greeting to those reading his letter. They are “beloved” because Jude shares with them the blessings of a common salvation from God. This salvation is based upon the faith which was once and for all delivered to humanity through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. This is the sacred and unchanging truth that they received through the teachings of the apostle. Jude had planned to write and explanation of the Christian faith in this letter, but instead found it more necessary to warn his fellow Christians against the dangers of false teachers. Jude’s expression “contended earnestly” envisions two opponents engaged in a life-or-death struggle. The reality is that our adversary, the devil, has every intent to destroy our relationship with God and divert us from the eternal riches waiting for us in Heaven. What we choose is truly a life-or-death decision.

Blessings
