Friday – March 24th – Jude 1:11     -----

1:11) Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

Happy Friday to you! We close out this week of blogs with a reminder of the new support group – Partnering With you Parents – that starts next Thursday evening, March 30th at 6:30pm. This group is being formed to help those who have stepped in to assist their aging parents navigate the many different challenges that come with today’s complicated culture. We will lift up our shared experiences in healthcare options, long-term living options, Social Security and pension procedures, wills -trusts -estates, VA ins and outs, etc. At this first meeting we will discuss what are the most important areas to address and we will work to schedule in future meetings professionals in each of these fields to come and share their knowledge. Most of all this is a group where you can come and be assured you are not alone in partnering with your parents. This group is open to folks both in SunRise and from the community. You can sign up on the events page through either the SunRise App or SunRise website.

In our pick verse today, Jude continues to lay out the errors of those in scripture who have chosen to go against God. Just as Cain cared nothing for his brother Abel (Genesis 4:8), these false teachers cared nothing good for those they were attempting to influence. Like Balaam (Numbers 22:12-22), these false teachers were leading people astray in their greedy pursuit of profit and power. And like Korah (Numbers 31:16), they rejected God-given authority. Jude could have continued to list others from the Old Testament who thought their wisdom was greater than God, but these examples provide all his readers needed to get the point. I pray that we also get Jude’s point that we are to completely trust that God always has our best interest at heart.

Blessings
